Having a little fun with these pages, but backgrounds are still a big problem.

The backgrounds are awesome!

I did notice a small issue in panel 2 where the clothing crosshatch is next to the lady's arm instead of the darker background I expected.

So I am assuming creating backgrounds in general is currently a pain for you?

Yeah

And that is supposed to be her other arm, which I clearly didn't make clear.

So black powder apparently exists in some capacity in this setting. Interesting.

You're forgetting Arthur C Clark's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!

When the Conquistadores first arrived in The Americas, they brought muskets, shot and black powder with them. The natives had never seen these things and assumed they were magic.

Grr... There you go again with your worldbuilding.

It's annoying because we only get such a narrow glimpse into it ;)

Have you tried the perspective tools available in Illustrator?

I generally use a 3d modelling program like Sketchup or Rhino to generate quick sloppy background to trace over, it works pretty well with developing a single or two-point perspective.

It's more the design of backgrounds in the first place. I'm lazy.

Virgin-killer gown would feature a healthy amount of sideboob, that's simply a backless gown.

Of course my big question is, why isn't Gwen wearing a dress?

She's a knight, so she's supposed to wear a dress uniform. If she can find it.

You were supposed to say, "She's such a tomboy she wouldn't be caught dead in a frock!"
