... Struggling to get the tools under control. The defaults for things like the paint fill are just the worst.

at least the sand filters the water...take solace where you can find it ;)

Not so much as water would just drag the loose soil and sand away, which can lead to cavities also known as sinkholes. With this you'll need to structurally press-support the walls to stop the push in from the sand (normally you use structure pipes to reinforce)but here you need to apply the arch technique of bridges so that the brickwork keeps it together and that's a slow as hell process, slow process equals more time, more time more costs and if you mess up you run the risk of it collapsing on you while you're continuing to drill/dig down.

THAT’S where the missing wolf knights are going!
They’re getting swallowed up by sinkholes!

Is mortar actually used, at least in what was originally the out-of-water part of the well? If the sediment the base of the well lays on gets removed, can the well tube slide down or will the surrounding dirt support it, or will it all just fall apart?
Actually I had a visual of Tia in the bottom of the well lifting up the tube part so Venne could get right at the bottom of the brickwork, but of course that's impossible.

One might... just dig down and support the walls with wooden boards, then build the brickwork in the inside of the boards... even without mortar as we know it, they probably know spells to create a solidification process with some crystals rather quick... Hm. Hmmm...
Tia lifting the whole tube wouldn't work well even if it was a solid tube, I'd rather remove material below the tube and push the whole thing down, then add another ring of concrete on top. But one would have to dig off the outside of the tube... and this is a tube made of brickwork, it would fall apart... actually, I have no good idea.

I like that sort of
effect in the last panel - it reminds me of afternoons I experienced in Duluth, Minnesota, where the fog rolls in off Lake Superior just like that.
I meant pull me up with the WINCH...

"Thought you said 'Pull me up, wench.' "
"Oh, don't start that again!"

Oh man, not hard work !!
Venne *really* hates hard work !! 😄

"Wait, these grains don't look like sand. Is that... ground-up bone?"

First thought: Oh, Tia making friends...? Someone she wouldn't accidentally kill in the middle of fun...?
But then the big guy looks so humiliated when Tia pulls Guin up her way.
