I really don't know about this page. I have to figure out how to go from establishing shots to complicated scene shots.

On the one hand, I'm astounded by how much you beat yourself up considering how amazingly talented you are. On the other hand, you keep getting better, so maybe you're just a little brutal with self encouragement.

You put so many little touches in that no one else would even think to do, like light and dark strips at window and door edges to give them depth; making the figures in the window darker where they face outward because the room lighting will do that to them; shading under chin and on skin overlapped by hair or clothing. I am in awe, sir.

That stuff's relatively simple, but I'm glad you like it!

Not all of it is simple, you've got some nice core shadows going on here, and they are not simple at all.

And for those who don't know what core shadows are, this is what I am talking about :

Another good example is Venne's arm in panel 4. :)

I'm doing some shadow experiments this chapter, so we'll see if they turn out.

Nice .. always room for improvements when it comes to shading, no matter how good you are. :)

A little self-analysis may be a good thing for any creator, but you do seem to worry a lot about stuff the audience is fine with. You needn't worry about improving your skills, there's no doubt that you're continuing to do so all the time.

Yup! I agree, but I need to talk about something!

Feel free to talk about how AWESOME you are, every now and then!

So wait... am I to understand that as Ozoals get older they get furrier? Is that what's goin' on here or is it all just plague stuff? I kind of love the idea of elves that grow into puppers.

Or are we looking at several different species here?
Stormalong (Guest) edit delete reply
Maybe there are two different sub-races of Ozoals with varying levels of feralness, like Orlans from Pillars of Eternity!

I pity poor people presenting patch plague.

I'd like to point out that our lovely sewer-elf, Lilly Rose, doesn't seem to have any fur.
Pyo (Guest) edit delete reply
Or they are staging a furry cosplay convention?

ps: Talking about art, those last panels like a bit like not having any background to my amateur eyes ;)

Maybe it's just a blank wall. OTOH, having a blank background can be a deliberate choice to focus attention on the characters.

I rather like this page. :)
Particularly the first 2 frames, which incidentally are also the two frames that took the most time to draw!

I am really liking the houses (and the type of houses too) in the first frame, and also how you managed to make it look like late afternoon / sunset. Showing that time has progressed, it's surprising how many artists forget about time. >_<

And in comparison, the second frame only have the barebones of a background, but the characters are now in focus - It's an interesting way to create a focus shift for the reader. :)

I'd say you got the point across.
