I colored this page a few times and it never turned out reasonable.

Yep, fireball, albeit a small one. For lighting purposes!

I'm concerned though... Ants and spiders look very different and behave very differently... So, second-guessing here.... The ant queen is NOT the spider queen and there's still a very large spider down there somewhere!

I decided not to do that, because it would have made that arc drag!

Fair enough.

So all the water is draining into the mine shaft. Someone dug a mine shaft too close to the water main, whoever it was needs to pay to fix it, it's clearly their fault!

It may not be exactly what you want, but it still looks really good. Organic growth like Polypore mushrooms, crystals throwing strange chromatic light. Atmospheric.

It's atmospheric, but hard to read.

I rather like the coloring, myself. Looks like an abandoned mine, now thoroughly flooded. Fix that leak, and that should help matters...

Is that a spell cast without an incantation? I dont think weve seen that happen before.

Nah, she cast it, I just couldn't find a place to put her muttering two more lines of dialog.

I like that you don't give in (as so many comic writers/artists do) to the "wall-o'-text" temptation, when you want to have some exposition. Also, I like the coloring of the walls themselves; very 'rocky'.

Avoiding a wall of text is my #1 priority

Lies, your #1 priority is to tell a good story, even if it means making a wall of text.

Though I guess your #2 priority would be to make the wall of text explode … somehow. :D
